Lina Ocolisan is a Sydney based ceramic artist whose sculptural forms and vessels explore life, identity, and the human experience. Her work is shaped by a lifelong curiosity about the world around her, with a deep interest in the personal, social, and cultural experiences that influence who we become.

Raised in Arnhem Land and influenced by a multicultural background, Lina developed an early awareness of the complexities of human experience. Through travel, observations, and connection with others, she has become drawn to stories of vulnerability, strength, and the remarkable resilience people show in the face of adversity.

Working predominantly with porcelain, Lina is captivated by the material’s delicate balance between strength and fragility. Her practice explores unorthodox slip casting techniques, deliberately deconstructing and disrupting textured plaster moulds to create forms that reveal fractures, distortions, and imperfections. Rather than concealing these marks, Lina embraces them as a reflection of the complexities of life.

For Lina, clay becomes a quiet storyteller and a way to give form to experiences that are often difficult to express. Her sculptural forms and vessels invite reflection on identity, resilience, and our shared humanity, honouring the stories that shape us and the strength found within imperfection.
